It has been quite a while since I mentioned Zac. Matter of fact, looking back, I haven't said much since Thanksgiving. Well, Zac finished his Sophmore year at Ames High School with decent grades and will offically be a Junior. Two more years and he will graduate, I hope. It might be a tough two years...
Zac had been staying in a foster home in Ames since leaving Rhonda's back in October. While there, he has grown a lot, both physically and emotionally. Also, while living there, he has made some very bad choices and has gotten himself in a heap of trouble. He was on informal probation and messed up big time and now he has been placed in a group home.
Currently Zac is residing at Youth Homes of Mid-America in Johnston. Hopefully, he will receive the counseling and care that he needs to so that he can stop doing the things he does that gets him into trouble. Unfortunately he made a bad choice and ran away from the group home during the time Mike's dad was in the Hospice. He missed the funeral and everything leading up to it. Many of us in the family are very upset with him. His timing was beyond poor.
He has since been caught and is back at the group home, but his attitude is not good. His next step, if he keeps on this path, is Woodward Academy ...aka. Boot Camp. He says he hates it at the group home, that's why he ran...he's going to hate Woodward more, I'm sure! And it's harder to run from Woodward!!
Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. He has a lot to get through, if he's going to make it in society. He's 16 now and it's really time for him to realize he can't do the things he does and get away with them.
The group home has a school right there on campus and they use the Johnston Schools curriculum. If he ends up staying there for the full two years that he could be there, he will graduate from Johnston Schools.
I'm not sure what the future holds for him. I would like to see him, at least, get his high school diploma.
Beyond that...it's up to Zac.
